Sylvie is on a journey of transitioning from realism to expressionistic/abstract art.

Her background is in teaching art in an adult education college for thirty years. She taught the techniques of various mediums from watercolour to pastels, oils and acrylics, covering a wide range of subject matter. In that time and since then, she has found herself drawn more and more to non-representational and abstract art.

The journey is long and interesting (sometimes frustrating). Incorporating lots of layers of textured, expressive, spontaneous mark making, mainly in mixed media landscapes, to convey ‘feelings’ of movement, excitement or calm and always looking for the light therein. Her love of colour is conveyed in much of her work.

She feels the journey won’t end, but that’s what keeps her going.
