DEBORAH PLASKETT
Semi-abstract landscape and nature paintings
About the artist
Having studied Interior Design, Decorative Paint Finishes and Mural Painting at the National Design Academy, Nottingham, Debbie began her art career as a decorative painter and mural artist. She worked on a wide variety of projects throughout East Anglia and further afield before putting away her ladders in 2018, to concentrate on her studio practice.
Inspired by a deep feeling of connection to the natural world, Debbie’s art celebrates the complexity and beauty to be found in the small and often overlooked details of local flora and fauna, and the quiet atmosphere of the landscape. Fascinated by the possibilities of the ‘unseen’, mythical beings and imagined landscapes also feature.
Working primarily in acrylics, multiple transparent layers give Debbie’s paintings an ethereal, dreamlike quality. She also enjoys experimenting with hand-printed collage papers, direct prints from leaves and grasses, and sometimes actual botanical items embedded in the work, strengthening the connection to nature.
Debbie states “I make art for people who, like me, choose to live in harmony with nature’s rhythms, and whose senses and imagination are attuned to the beauty and enchantment of the everyday.”
